Autumn Break Week Events
What suitable activities for children can you find in Helsinki? Where to go with small children on weekends? What to do on a rainy day? Little Helsinki's weekly series searches for activity tips and recommends child-friendly places in Helsinki and the surrounding area. The website targets preschool-age children and families with young children. This week’s “Where to go” feature in week 42 lists autumn break events in the capital region. Due to the holiday week, many regular weekly events are on vacation and there’s special programming organized with holiday visitors in mind. The playgrounds also offer activities for school-age children and families during the holiday week, and all parks are open 9 am-4 pm. Little Helsinki has also published a special autumn break round-up of events in Helsinki as well as tips for the holiday week in the surrounding area. This week families play ball games, watch movies, hunt for the last Park Hide, visit museums, celebrate Story Day and listen to stories at the library. Little Helsinki’s Where to go this week article tips all the activities happening in the city for families with preschool-age children.
Updates on the site: Little Helsinki and site advertising. We’re looking for ways to finance the site’s maintenance costs and we’re testing relevant advertising on the site for the first time. If advertising space interests you, feel free to get in touch and I’ll tell you more (mari at pientenhelsinki.fi).
REQUEST: #littlehelsinki can be found on Instagram, for example, and behind the tag you’ll find other families’ experiences and activity tips with children. Feel free to use the #littlehelsinki tag ;)

New: Little Helsinki as an app on your phone!
Little Helsinki now also works as a PWA app. You can install Little Helsinki on your Android or iPhone by simply opening the website in Chrome or Safari browser and selecting "Add to home screen" from the share icon. A PWA app differs from a traditional app in that you don't need to install it separately from the App Store or similar. Practically speaking the content is exactly the same as in a browser, but theoretically loads faster. Little Helsinki doesn't require registration to work now, or ever.
