Children's events during Valentine's week
What suitable activities for children can be found in Helsinki? Where to go with small children on weekends? What to do on a rainy day? Pienten Helsinki's weekly series looks for activity ideas and suggests child-friendly places in Helsinki and the surrounding area. The target audience of the website is pre-school children and families with children.
Where to go this week -article continues with a slightly modified concept. The article lists the highlights of the week's events and the most interesting activity tips of the week. It also includes highlights from Pienten Helsinki's news and new stories, as well as a new "Have you ever visited" place that changes every week. The future of the website is still open, but we'll continue with this concept for the spring.
Pienten Helsinki's proposal for OmaStadi budget for families' sandbox moved forward!
BUT: Is Central Library Oodi really the right place for a sandbox? Or is such a thing needed this year? The proposal can still be modified, so new ideas around the concept are welcome. The proposal is on display at OmaStadi on 28.2.2019, comment or sign up to help develop the idea!
Pienten Helsinki's tips for winter break with children in Helsinki have been published!
Do you follow already Pienten Helsinki on Facebook? The page has lots of current event tips, discussions and other highlights related to family life in Helsinki. On Facebook you'll also find a separate group for the city's baby families, Vauvan Helsinki.
Pienten Helsinki can also be found on Instagram, using the hashtag #pientenhelsinki you'll find numerous pictures of Helsinki with children.
Pienten Helsinki's new year Children in restaurants -challenge has been published!
Pienten Helsinki challenges all families looking for a lunch spot with children or hunting for a good child-friendly restaurant to share their best tips with others facing the same challenges. The dream is to create a comprehensive list of restaurants and cafes that have been found to be really good or at least functional with children behind one link and make life easier for many other families.
This week's Have you ever visited -place is Urho and Sylvi Kekkonen's home museum Tamminiemi right next to Seurasaari. This museum is not a traditional place for families with children, but Pienten Helsinki's young background team tested the place during summer heat and spent an unforgettable moment at Uncle Urho's and Aunt Sylvi's place. Note that Tamminiemi is open in winter only on Saturdays and Sundays from 11-17. Entrance fee.

Pienten Helsinki as an app on your phone!
Pienten Helsinki now also works as a PWA app. You can install Pienten Helsinki on your Android or iPhone by simply opening the website in Chrome or Safari browser and selecting "Add to home screen" from the share menu. A PWA app differs from a traditional app in that you don't have to install it separately from App Store or similar. In practice, the content is exactly the same as in a browser, but theoretically loads faster.
Pienten Helsinki does not require registration to work now, and never will.
