Winter Garden has Easter! The Winter Garden is open throughout Easter week 14.-21.4.2025 daily 10am-4pm.
Note! Unfortunately, strollers cannot fit inside the garden, but there is a covered stroller parking area on the right side of the yard. There is no café, but you can bring your own picnic to the Winter Garden and there are picnic spots both inside and in the outdoor garden. Note! The Winter Garden no longer has Easter chicks, but carp swim in the greenhouse fountain. Free admission.

Helsinki City Libraries throughout Helsinki offer activities for children during Easter week. Check out the full week's program on Helmet's website! Please note that libraries are mostly closed on Good Friday and on the 1st and 2nd days of Easter.
Vantaa: Håkansbölen's Little Easter Event on Saturday 11am-1pm. Free admission.
At Kaisaniemi Botanical Garden you can admire the awakening of spring in the greenhouses and outdoor garden. The greenhouses are open during Easter (not on Monday!) and more detailed opening hours can be found on Luomus's website. Free admission to the outdoor garden, entrance fee for the greenhouse for those over 7 years old.
Seurasaari's Easter Bonfire Event has been Cancelled due to a forest fire warning.
However, you can still spend time outdoors freely and for free on Seurasaari and neighboring Pukkisaari.
Kerava: Suomen Tivoli in Kerava Friday to Monday 18.-21.4.2025. Free admission to the area, otherwise paid activities.

Museum TAHTO at the Olympic Stadium is open throughout Easter. Museum entrance fee.
Theatre Museum is open during Easter on Saturday and Sunday 19.-20.4.2025. Museum entrance fee.
Museum Merkki and the wonderful Pippi exhibition (formerly Newspaper Museum) is open during Easter on Saturday and Sunday 19.-20.4.2025 11am-5pm. Free admission.
University of Helsinki Observatory at Tähtitorninmäki is open on Saturday 19.4.2025 12pm-4pm. Museum entrance fee.
Espoo: Museum Play is open during Easter on Saturday and Sunday 19.-20.4.2025. Museum entrance fee.
Espoo: Manor Museum Glims is open during Easter on Sunday 20.4.2025 and the program includes, among other things, Easter egg painting. Museum entrance fee.

Animals in the City

Fallkulla Farm and the farm's indoor facilities and café are open during Easter daily 18.-21.4.2024 10am-2pm. Free admission. Please note that the farm's parking area is small, a larger parking area can be found at Tapanila Railway Station, from which there is less than a 10-minute walk to Fallkulla. You can also reach the place by local trains P, I, and K (Tapanila Station).
Haltiala Farm's Sheep Pasture is open on Saturday and Sunday 10am-2pm during 1.4.-4.5.2025. Haltial has welcomed 38 lambs this year! The farm also has other animals and a nice playground. Near Haltial you'll also find Niskala Arboretum, where spring is slowly awakening. Free admission to Haltiala Farm.
Easter Island Event at Korkeasaari 18.-21.4.2025 10am-6pm (admission ends at 5pm) . Zoo entrance fee.
Husö Riding School's horses can be seen along Talosaari's outdoor trail (owned by the City of Helsinki) year-round. The area also has a mostly accessible outdoor trail.

You can also hike at Easter! Have you ever visited Lammassaari in spring, Kruunuvuorenlammella (with its great new boardwalk!), Matosaaressa, or Stansvik Manor Park? Also Talosaari, Tullisaari, Kivinokka, Seurasaari and Pukkisaari, and even Suomenlinna are wonderful hiking spots even outside the summer season. Pack a picnic and bring warm clothes!

Day Trips During Easter

Day trip ideas in Helsinki and the surrounding area can be found in Pienten Helsinki's Day Trips series.
From Sipoonkorpi National Park you'll find, for example, the easily accessible Tasakallio – Storträsk trail and the Byabäcken Nature Trail, formerly known as Ponun Heritage Post Trail, which leads to a grilling spot and a cabin for warming up. Tip from personal experience: with small children, the Byabäcken trail should be walked from the beginning to the grilling spot and return the same way back, rather than making a loop. The grilling spot usually has plenty of ready firewood available, so bring matches and snacks. However, please note that some trails may be slippery or very wet due to variable weather.
It's also worth trying the trail from Kuusijärvi to Sipoonkorpi and experience the beautiful bridge crossing into the national park at the same time.

New and interesting hiking spots can also be found in Uusimaa Recreation Area Association's destinations.
Porvoo and, for example, Old Porvoo's attractions and Moomin Playground are nice destinations in East Uusimaa.
In Kotka the Sea Center Vellamo is featuring a large Moomin Exhibition (though the museum center is only open on Saturdays). Worth visiting in Kotka are also Katariina's Seaside Park and Sapoka Water Park.
Lahti and Launee Family Park and the large ski jump towers are worth seeing.
Kirkkonummi and Linloo, Meiko, and Porkkala outdoor areas.
Inkoo's Degerbyn offers nature and grilling at Kopparnäs Recreation Area.

Riihimäki: Riihimäki's Easter 18.-21.4.2025.
Porvoo: Kungsbackan Farm Easter celebrations on Saturday and Sunday 19.-20.4.2025 11am-5pm. Entrance fee.
Porvoo: Easter Market in Pelling on Saturday 19.4. 11am-2pm. The ferry trip to Pelling Island is a short journey and traveling to the archipelago itself is an adventure!
