Event tips for week 13
What kid-friendly activities can you find in Helsinki? Where to go with small children on weekends? What to do on a rainy day? Small Helsinki's weekly series looks for activity tips and recommends child-friendly places in Helsinki and the surrounding area. The website targets children under school age and families with children.
Where to go this week -article continues with a slightly revised concept. The article lists the highlights of the week's events and the week's most interesting activity tips. It also includes highlights from Small Helsinki's new articles, news, and as new each week, a rotating "Have you ever visited" place. The site's future is still open, but we'll continue with this concept through spring.
New in Small Helsinki:
- Check out what Päivälehden Museum's new Pekka Töpöhäntä exhibition looks like!
- Spring children's clothing and supply flea markets in the capital region are listed at one link.
NEW: Families' Helsinki group on Facebook is a place for discussion about families' life in Helsinki: daycare spots, hobbies, getting around, everyday tips and ideas. Things that families encounter in daily life. The group is a place to celebrate but also to raise issues in family matters. The group is also a place to share news and announcements related to families' lives. You can join the group here.
Helsinki Day production grant application is now open! This year, the Helsinki Day panel also includes a city resident particularly enthusiastic about children's events, so now is the time to apply for production grants for children's events. More information on the Helsinki Day website.
This week's "Have you ever visited" place is Töölönlahti's newest playground opposite the Finlandia Hall, which differs from other city playgrounds: here you climb and hang. The playground is suitable for slightly older players, rock climbing enthusiasts and other daredevils. A great place to stop by on a city walk!
A Loru playground is also coming to the Oodi courtyard, but Small Helsinki hasn't been able to get the park's plans. So let's hope the rumor of an unfenced playground isn't true.

Article cover image from the outdoor recreation area at the southern tip of Lauttasaari. A trip here is definitely worth it to explore signs of spring and play in the playground.

Small Helsinki as an app on your phone!
Small Helsinki now works as a PWA app as well. You can install Small Helsinki on your Android or iPhone by simply opening the page in Chrome or Safari browser and selecting the share icon Add to home screen ("add to home screen"). A PWA app differs from a traditional app in that it doesn't need to be separately installed from the App Store or similar. In practice, the content is exactly the same as in the browser, but theoretically loads faster.
Small Helsinki does not require registration to work now, nor will it ever.
