Autumn breezes
What kid-friendly activities can be found in Helsinki? Where to go with little children on weekends? What to do on a rainy day? Pienten Helsinki's weekly series seeks activity tips and recommends child-friendly places in Helsinki and the surrounding area. The website targets children of preschool age and families with young children.September begins, there’s still summer in the air but also a hint of autumn’s feel. Regarding events, many of the summer’s weekly activities have now ended, but autumn’s new activities are slowly beginning. This week you can go to story hours, Cat’s Night, a mushroom exhibition, the Atheneum’s children’s Saturdays, and sleep outdoors. Many BABY events also continue. Summer’s Park Hide adventure has now ended and it’s time to collect feedback and ideas for the future. The Hide feedback form will open in the coming days. Pienten Helsinki’s Where to go this week article tips what’s happening in the city for families with preschool-aged children.
New at Pienten Helsinki: Children’s Amos Rex story takes you on an adventure to Lasilatsi’s new, exciting museum, and in the latest part of the Helsinki Islands series you’ll explore Lammassaari and Kuusiluoto. Pienten Helsinki’s Facebook page has a file with a collection of Helsinki neighborhood Facebook groups aimed at families.
Updates on the website: Pienten Helsinki’s pages will receive their first banner advertisement in the coming days. We’re looking for ways to finance the website’s maintenance costs and we’re testing advertising that fits the page’s topic for the first time. If the advertising space interests you, feel free to get in touch and I’ll tell you more (mari (a) pientenhelsinki.fi).
WISH: Criticism, compliments, comments and wishes: tell us what you think of Pienten Helsinki! Or feel free to contact us: suggest, tell us your opinion, give tips or even propose collaboration! mari (a) pientenhelsinki.fi The article’s cover image is from Kaisaniemi Botanical Garden, where autumn flowers are at their finest. The open garden is free to enter and on the other side of the garden in a blue building there’s a lovely Cafe Viola.

New: Pienten Helsinki as an app on your phone!
Pienten Helsinki now works as a PWA app. You can install Pienten Helsinki on your Android or iPhone simply by opening the page in Chrome or Safari browser and selecting "Add to home screen" from the share menu. A PWA app differs from a traditional app in that you don't need to install it separately from the App Store or similar. In practice, the content is exactly the same as in the browser, but theoretically loads faster. Pienten Helsinki doesn't require registration to work now, and never will.
