Palm Sunday weekend tips

Vuotalo Easter 2018

At Vuotalo's Easter event on Saturday 24.3.2018 from 11 onwards, families celebrate Easter together. The program includes paint dips for the youngest family members, birch twig and bunny ear workshops, and children's music concerts in Finnish and Swedish (tickets 6 €). Slaughterhouse Delicacy Markets

The Slaughterhouse area fills with Delicacy Markets on Palm Sunday 25.3.2018 from 11-17, offering a wide range of programs and market atmosphere for Easter. Virvo Varvo at Annala!

Puppet Theatre Sampo

Puppet Theatre Sampo's programs feature MEOW! Easter at the puppet theatre -performance running until Easter, which showcases Easter-related folk traditions and beliefs in a lively puppet theatre cavalcade. Performances are held both at Sampo's own stage and at cultural centers throughout the capital region. Tickets 12 €. Check detailed performance times and book tickets at Sampo's website.

Easter weekend tips

At Atheneum you can enjoy the classics of the Finnish Art Story exhibition and participate in an open Nonstop workshop on Saturday from 11-14, where you can paint surprise eggs on an Easter bunny. Museum entrance fee, under 18s free, museum card venue.

SIPOO: At Sipoo Gumbostrand Konst & Form opened on 23.3.2018 American animation designer Phil Mendez’s fairy tale exhibition FUN (Finnish Unknown Nature). Children are especially welcome to the exhibition’s fairy tale world. Phil Mendez’s FUN is on display at the art center located in Sipoo’s archipelago landscape until 27.5.2018. Free admission. Winter Garden Easter

The Winter Garden fills with the splendor of Easter flowers and Easter decorations and invites everyone to enjoy the spring atmosphere. The Winter Garden is open during Easter holidays from 12-16 (full Easter week hours below). Entry to the Winter Garden is free. Stroller use in greenhouses can be challenging, so it's a good idea to bring a baby carrier for the smallest visitors. You can bring your own snacks to the Winter Garden, and in previous years there has been a small café operating in connection with events.

Puppet Theatre Sytkytin at Winter Garden

Following tradition, this year too at the Winter Garden people enjoy Sytkyt's performances for children during Easter. This year a musical puppet tale tells of Sampo boy's adventures to a mountain cave to meet Lapland's witch Hiidet in honor of Z. Topelius's 200th birth anniversary celebration year. Entry to performances is free.

Kaisaniemi Botanical Garden

The garden's greenhouses are closed for maintenance on Long Friday 30.3., but from Saturday to Monday from 10-16 you can enjoy the awakening of spring in the beautiful greenhouse. More information and ticket prices at the Botanical Garden's website.

Easter at Haltiala

Haltiala farm's Easter includes almost a hundred newborn lambs, cows in pasture, pony rides and horseback riding (paid), sausage grilling opportunities and an excellent playground. The café-restaurant Wanha Pehtoori also serves during Easter holidays.

Fallkulla farm animals during Easter

Fallkulla farm animals is also open during Easter daily from 10-15. The café Kilikuppila also serves daily from 10-15 (card payment possible, but it's good to bring cash). At Fallkulla you can see and pet many animals, admire chicks and sheep, horseback riding Mon-Fri from 10-13 and leading riding Fri-Su from 10-12. Entry to Fallkulla farm is free. Larger parking area at Tapanila train station, from which it's a 10-minute walk to Fallkulla.

Korkeasaari is Easter Island

Korkeasaari becomes Easter Island 30.3.-2.4.2018 and offers signs of spring and activities all over the island. Korkeasaari is open during Easter daily from 10-18. Zoo admission fee (12 €/ 6 €, under 4s free). Read more about Easter Island events at Korkeasaari's website.

Chicks and stars at Sealife

For those seeking indoor activities, the sea world Sealife is open during Easter holidays daily from 10-19. The new Stars of the Seas exhibition and small Easter chicks in honor of Easter delight visitors along with other sea world creatures. Admission fee. Read more at Sealife's website.

Seurasaari Easter bonfires

Uunisaari Easter sales

Uunisaari Easter sales 31.3.-1.4. from 11-18. Uunisaari is located off Kaivopuisto and has a bridge connection during winter months. The Uunisaari restaurant also serves. Read more at Uunisaari's own website.

Family Easter Disco

Tip for Vantaa: Family Easter Disco at Vernissa Cultural Center in Vantaa on Sunday 1.4.2018 from 12-16. Entry to the disco is free. Read more at the event's Facebook page.

Theatre Cat's Easter Adventure at Theatre Museum

Theatre Cat's Easter Adventure: The Witch's Scorched Cloak at Theatre Museum at Cable Factory on Saturday 31.3.2018 and Sunday 1.4.2018 from 12–16. You can arrive on your own schedule, but no later than 15.30. Museum admission fee (10 €/5 €, under 3s free. Museum card venue). More information at Theatre Museum's website. Uutela Kota

Uutela Kota is open on Sunday 1.4. and Monday 2.4. from 12-18. The great Kota Friends keep the fire going, so it's easy to come here to eat snacks and roast sausages or sticks pastries. The kota's opening hours can be found on its Facebook page.

Easter events elsewhere

Porvoo: Kungsbackan farm animal Easter event 1.-2.4.2018 from 12-15. Admission 9 €/ 5 €. Most animals are on display, some indoors and some outdoors.
