  • What should we do today? Check out tips for boring days from Pienten Helsinki!
  • Dance and play workshops at the Caisa cultural center (Kaikukatu 4 B) in the Maissi space on Mondays. Toddlers (1-3 years) dance with their own adult at 9:15 am and play-age children (3-5 years) at 10:15 am. The Dance and Play workshop inspires and guides Helsinki parents and children to create and experience dance art together. You can participate in the workshop's instruction whenever it suits you, at all times or just some sessions. Choose a time that works for you and arrive on time. No advance registration required; places are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Seats available for the first 12 arrivals. Free admission.
  • Mobile farm at Ulvila playground on Monday 9:30 am-12 pm. Play Café Park is also here! Free admission.
  • Family Fun Sessions provide children under school age and their parents with a space where they can move together independently and free of charge. Family Fun Sessions are held on Mondays:

    - Family Fun Sessions at Tapanila Elementary School (Veljestenpiha 2) on Mondays 5–6:30 pm from October 2 to December 11, 2023 (not in week 42).

  • Vantaa: Open UV art workshop for children and teens at Mosaiikki urban culture center on Friday 6 pm. The workshop is free to enter. It's a good idea to wear paint-resistant clothes, as paint doesn't come off easily in the wash.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 7, 2023

Events and activity tips

  • Sunday's Traditional sailing ship day begins partly on Saturday, when traditional ships sail the Tar Barrel sailing competition off the coast of Helsinki.
    After the competition, the vessels gather for the Sails Parade, which brings the sailing ships sailing in a parade to the South Harbor immediately after the competition at around 4 pm. The best spots for the public to watch the competition finish and the Sails Parade are the beaches of Kaivopuisto and Katajanokka. After the parade, the vessels moor at the South Harbor's Cholera Pool and its surroundings for Sunday's traditional Sailing Ship Day.

  • Sports fun sessions at Sports Mill (Jauhokuja 3) in Myllypuro on Sunday 9–10:45 am.
    Sports fun sessions offer children under 9 and their families the opportunity to move in various ways and have fun. You can arrive according to your own schedule, there's room for strollers in the entrance, and you should bring your own lock for the locker. Admission fee for adults 3.50 €, others 2 €, free for children under 9.
