Where to go with children in Helsinki? What child-friendly activities can be found in Helsinki this week? Pienten Helsinki’s weekly “Where to Go This Week” series searches for tips and suggests child-friendly events and activities in Helsinki and the surrounding areas.

MONDAY April 13, 2026

  • Playground Loru, located in the Central Library Oodi, program for Monday:

  • Perhehulinat (Family Fun) offer children under school age and their parents a space where they can move together independently and free of charge. The activity is open to everyone, and no pre-registration is required. On Mondays, Family Fun sessions are held at:
    • PNV Sports Center (Ohrahuhdantie 4) 12:30 PM – 2:00 PM from January 12 to April 20, 2026.
    • Malmi Primary School (Talvelantie 1) 4:30 PM – 6:00 PM from January 12 to April 20, 2026.
    • Tapanila Primary School (Veljestenpiha 2) 6:00 PM – 6:30 PM from January 12 to April 20, 2026.
  • Helsinki MUSEUMS open on Mondays include Museo Merkki, Helsinki City Museum and Children’s Town, Tram Museum, TAHTO, and Amos Rex (closed until May for the construction of a new exhibition).

TUESDAY April 14, 2026

  • Metropolia HyMy Village Family Club Metku at Metropolia UAS Myllypuro campus (next to the metro station) on Tuesday 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM. Each session features a varying program for families led by students in early childhood education, social, health, and cultural fields. The campus café Aspretto offers breakfast for family club members for €5.50.
  • The Haltiala Farm sheep stable is open for visits from March 31 to May 3, 2026. The stable is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM and on Saturdays and Sundays 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM. This spring, 23 lambs have been born at Haltiala Farm! Free admission.
  • Albert’s Living Room (Albertin olohuone) is open during the spring season 2026 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays 9:30 AM – 3:00 PM. Free admission.
  • Playground Loru, located in the Central Library Oodi, program for Tuesday:
    • 10:30 AM – 11:00 AM Loru moves, gentle movement for parents and babies (0-9 months)
    • 1:00 PM – 1:30 PM In Loru’s warmth - baby moment
    • 2:00 PM – 2:30 PM I Ramsans värme, music, rhymes, and jingles for babies (in Swedish)

  • Art for Toddlers Workshops (Open Studio for Toddlers Workshops) at Cultural Center Caisa (Kaikukatu 4 B) on Tuesdays 1:30 PM – 3:30 PM. The workshops are suitable for children aged 1.5–3 years together with their own adult. No pre-registration, free admission. You can stay for the whole duration or just drop in.
