During week 8, museums in Helsinki, Espoo, and Vantaa offer plenty of experiences and activities for children.
However, please note that many museums are closed on Mondays.

At the Ateneum a winter break workshop is held on Wednesday, February 20, 2019, 11 am-2 pm. The workshop is recommended for children over 3 years old. Museum admission applies; children under 18 free; museum card venue.

At the Design Museum winter break activities daily from Tuesday to Friday, February 19–23, 2019, 2-4 pm in the Design Museum studio. Museum admission applies; children under 18 free; museum card venue.

Helsinki City Museum and its Children's City is always a sure choice for visiting museums with little ones. Here too, you can play with history! Always free admission. During winter break week, indoor winter activities: Winter Break Workshops in the Falkman Wing February 18-24, 2019, 12–3 pm. The workshop is free and open to everyone.

At Helsinki Observatory during winter break week, space crafts on Thursday and Friday, February 21-22, 2019, 12-4 pm. Museum admission applies; children under 7 free; museum card venue.

Hotel and Restaurant Museum On Kabel Factory and the museum currently features the Dough Sense exhibition, which was built with children in mind. During winter break week you can explore the exhibition with an adventure map or participate in a guided tour from Tuesday to Thursday, February 19-21, 2019 at 2 pm. Kaisaniemi Botanical Garden enchants even in winter. Museum admission applies; children under 7 free; museum card venue.

At the National Museum you can marvel at Finland's history and play in the museum's Vintillä. The Finnish Story exhibition works well with children too. Winter break is celebrated at the National Museum with Viking Week February 16-24, 2019. Museum admission 12 €/9 €, children under 18 free; museum card venue.

At Kiasma the exhibition by Hrafnhildur Arnardóttir, also known as Shoplifter, Nervescape VIII is bewildering and makes you smile. Shoplifter's exhibition works well for small children too, and the artwork can be gently touched. The other exhibitions currently on display at Kiasma may not be suitable for the most sensitive and youngest museum visitors. Museum admission applies; children under 18 free; museum card venue.

At Kindergarten Museum you can always play on Wednesdays, 12-6 pm. On Saturday, February 23, 2019, during winter break week, the museum hosts a family event with a sleep theme 10 am-1 pm. Admission on Wednesdays 4 €, children under 16 free. Free admission to themed Saturdays.

Natural History Museum is a must-visit museum destination with children. During winter break weeks 8 and 9, the museum hosts Totally Dark Winter Break Adventure from Tuesday to Saturday. Museum admission applies; children under 7 free; museum card venue.

Fire Museum next to the Erottaja Fire Station is a wonderful destination for its location alone. The museum is open on Wednesdays and Sundays, 12-4 pm. Museum admission 2€, children under 15 free.

Päivälehti Newspaper Museum where you can marvel at typewriters, faxes, and other old journalism tools, browse old newspapers, and learn about newspaper work in many ways. Free admission.

Tram Museum next to Tölö Tram Halls takes you on a journey through Helsinki's history. Features trams from different decades and other tram-related material. Free admission.

At Theatre Museum on Kabel Factory, there is plenty for children to do and experience. During winter break week, February 19-22, 2019, 12-3 pm, the museum hosts Theatre Cat's Winter Break Adventure. Museum admission 10 €/5 €, children under 3 free; museum card venue.
