City routes take you to new neighborhoods, new places and help and inspire you to explore your home city or visit as a tourist on new corners.
Family City Routes is a new kind of urban tourism concept that takes you on a discovery journey to new places and shows familiar corners in a new light. It also challenges you to think about whether it's always necessary to travel far to experience something new and unprecedented.
Coming soon are various new routes to new places and new purposes: neighborhood adventures, a day in Helsinki routes, nature routes, climbing spot routes, routes for different ages....
The first Family City Routes will take you on adventures in Helsinki: Haaga, Pitäjänmäki, Ruskeasuo, and Vuosaari.
Family City Routes is part of Heidi Säynätkari's hospitality management thesis, which is being implemented in collaboration with Pienen Helsinki.
"The idea of city routes started from my own interest in urban tourism with children, and especially the desire to get to know cities outside the city centers. Often information is scattered across many sources and difficult to find, so I thought why not have a website where everything would be gathered in one place. In my thesis, I'm researching more extensively the concept of traveling like a local with children, and the city route destinations are exactly the places where locals enjoy spending time. Thanks to the city routes, I myself have awakened to seeing Helsinki's potential even more as an amazing city with plenty to explore for both locals and travelers!"
Family City Routes were made for all adventurers and we have thrown down a challenge to all experience experts as well:
