Museum Buddy and I in Espoo: Toy Museum Horseshoe

In Espoo, more precisely in Tapiola, on the second floor of the WeeGee exhibition center, you'll find children's dream museum: Toy Museum Horseshoe. A museum where you can play and be a child, but which also offers a glimpse into the history of toys and nostalgia for adults. This place is one of the Little Helsinki team's rainy day saviors – for example, on weekdays there's often a pleasantly calm atmosphere for little ones to play. For this reason, and thanks to the West Metro, Horseshoe becomes part of Little Helsinki's museum series, even though it's located in a neighboring city.

At Toy Museum Horseshoe, there are toys from different decades in display cases, where you can search for familiar items from your own childhood. For children, Horseshoe has a playhouse, workshop, hobby horse stable, slide, doll house, train track, toy television, chicken coop, car and tractor, laundry room... The museum isn't huge in size, but on a small scale there's plenty to do.

As a tip, it's worth noting that in the middle of a weekday there was no crowding in the museum – we got to play in peace and quiet and explore everything Toy Museum Horseshoe has to offer.

As part of the Toy Museum, there is also Theatre Horseshoe in Mankkaa, which features high-quality children's performances. Baby and toddler theatre performances are also held in the Tapiola Toy Museum spaces. The museum also hosts many children's events and, for example, woodcraft workshops on weekends.
You can move around with strollers at WeeGee and functional childcare facilities are located in front of the Toy Museum and on the ground floor of the museum building, accessed by a spacious elevator. The WeeGee building's café easily accommodates strollers.

In addition to the Toy Museum, the WeeGee exhibition center has other museums suitable for children. The Toy Museum admission ticket gives access to all WeeGee museums and exhibitions.
From WeeGee's windows you can also admire the Futuro house.

With the metro, the trip to the Toy Museum is easy from Helsinki: it's a short walk from Tapiola metro station to WeeGee. Along the way you can stop at the outdoor or indoor play areas at Tapiola shopping center – a good play room can be found at Aino shopping center, as well as functional childcare facilities.
