Playground summer meals ended on 7.8.2020 for summer 2020.

During summer 2020, Helsinki's city offers free summer lunches for under 16-year-olds at 32 playgrounds. Playground meals start this year on the first day of school holidays on 1.6.2020. Summer meals are organized despite the exceptional circumstances, but with special arrangements.
Due to the exceptional summer, the city of Vantaa offers picnic bags instead of summer lunches at five resident parks for under 18-year-olds in June-July.

On the first day of school summer holidays on 1.6.2020, the 78th playground park meal summer begins. Helsinki offers free lunch to children and young people under 16 years of age at open playgrounds on weekdays at 12 o'clock until 7.8.2020. This year you only need to bring your own cutlery and a drink, as due to the coronavirus situation, food is served on disposable plates provided by the city. The lunch menu includes various soups and stew dishes, so for example bringing your own sandwich bread is a good addition to lunch. During summer 2020, special attention is paid to hygiene and safe distances, and food is served from several different points. More detailed procedures will be clarified at the parks.

No prior registration is required to participate in meals, and lunch is available at all open Helsinki playgrounds. It's a good idea to arrive on time, as food is limited. Note that some playgrounds are closed for the entire summer, so you should check the status of your local playground from the summer activities map below.

Actual organized activities at playgrounds are not arranged during summer 2020, with the exception of school children's summer camps, which require separate registration. Paddling pools, sand toys or pedal cars, for example, are not available this summer, only the permanent play equipment at the playground is available. Summer Meals in Vantaa

Due to the exceptional summer, the city of Vantaa offers picnic bags instead of summer lunches at five resident parks for under 18-year-olds from 8.6.‒10.7.2020 at 11-12 o'clock (100 pcs / park).
