Kaunissaari keeps you busy all Ascension Day, as the island is 2 kilometers long and 800 meters wide with diverse flora and fauna and good fishing waters. The island also has a nature trail where you can learn more about the island’s nature.

Tips for independent adventures on Ascension Day

Adventure to Uutela, Sipoonkorpi or Suomenlinna

On nature trails you can spot butterflies and much more.
Spring nature is an excellent reason to go on an independent nature hike. The Uutela nature trails in Vuosaari are just a metro ride away and full of things to see. At the end of the hike, be sure to stop by Café Kampela and the Aurinkoranta playgrounds.

Sipoonkorpi National Park is right on the Helsinki border. The area also has the specially designed Ponun Perinnepostia nature trail (1.4 km) for children, where small hikers are considered through trail choices and activities. Pack a picnic!

Nature in Sipoonkorpi
Suomenlinna is always an interesting excursion destination. Fortifications, playgrounds and other attractions suit both little and bigger children. On good weather, the island offers plenty to explore, even without formal organized activities. Just the ferry ride to the island is an adventure. Suomenlinna Center has, among other things, a nice children's changing facility and a small café.
