Winter Garden has Easter! The Winter Garden is open throughout Easter week 30.3.-6.4.2026 daily from 10-16.
Note! Unfortunately, it's not possible to walk with strollers in the garden, but there's a covered stroller parking area on the right side of the yard. There's no café, but you can eat your own snacks at the Winter Garden and there are snack areas both inside and in the outdoor garden. Note! The Winter Garden no longer has Easter chicks, but carp swim in the greenhouse fountain. Free entry.

At Kaisaniemi Botanical Garden you can admire spring awakening in the greenhouses and the garden's outdoor areas. The greenhouses are also open at Easter (except Monday 6.4.2026!) and opening times can be found on the Museum's website. The outdoor garden has free entry, the greenhouses have an entrance fee for those over 7 years old.

Helsinki city libraries throughout Helsinki offer activities for children during Easter week. Check out the full week's program on the Helmet website! Please note that libraries are mostly closed on Good Friday and Easter Sunday and Monday.

University of Helsinki Observatory on Tähtitori Hill is open on Saturday 4.4.2026 from 12–16. Museum entrance fee.

Easter self-guided photo orienteering at the Theatre Museum on Saturday and Sunday 4.-5.4.2026. Museum entrance fee.

Museum Merkki is open during Easter on Saturday and Sunday 4.-5.4.2026. Free entry.
Natural History Museum is open during Easter on Saturday 4.4.2026 from 10-18 and Sunday 5.4.2026 from 10-16. Museum entrance fee.

Espoo: Museum Play is open during Easter from Thursday to Sunday 2.–5.4.2026 from 10–17. Museum entrance fee.

Espoo: Easter time at Glims Manor Museum. On the actual Easter weekend Glims is open on Sunday 5.4.2026 from 11-16 and the program includes Easter egg painting among other things. Museum entrance fee.
Vantaa: Aviation Museum is open throughout Easter 3.-6.4.2026 from 11-17 and the museum has Easter-themed programs. Museum entrance fee.
Järvenpää: Little Easter at Artist Home Ahola on the shores of Lake Tuusulanjärvi on Saturday 4.4.2026 from 10–15. Free entry.

Helsinki City Museum, Children's City and Tram Museum are closed at Easter.

Animals in the city

Fallkullan Farm and the farm's indoor facilities and café Kilikuppila are open at Easter daily Friday to Monday 3.-6.4.2026 from 10-14. Free entry.
Horse riding at Fallkullan on Friday, Sunday and Monday from 11-13 (fee required?).
Note that the farm's parking area is small, a larger parking area can be found at Tapanila train station, from which it's less than a 10-minute walk to Fallkullan. You can also reach the place by local trains P, I and K (Tapanila station).

Visit Haltiala farm's lamb enclosure from 31.3.–3.5.2026. The lamb enclosure is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9-13 and Saturdays and Sundays from 10-14, also during Easter. Haltiala farm has 23 newborn lambs this year!

You can visit Haltiala farm at other times too and some of the farm's animals graze outside in the spring. The farm also has a small playground. Close to Haltiala you'll also find Niskala arboretum, where spring awakens slowly. Free entry to Haltiala farm.
Husön riding school horses can be seen along the Talosaari outdoor trail (owned by the City of Helsinki) year-round. The area also has a mostly accessible outdoor trail.

Adventure to Uunisaari off Kaivopuisto can be reached via a bridge for a couple more weeks!

Perhaps Helsinki's most amazing viewpoint is now more easily accessible, as the old oil tank on top of Kruunuvuori rock now has stairs! Access to the stairs from Kultakruununkaarelta, near the start of Kruunusillat.

Kruunuvuorenranta also has many other adventure spots!
- Old quarries of Kaivoska can now be explored more easily with new boardwalks and stairs! The trail starts from Koirasaarentie, diagonally opposite the old villas from the Stansvikin tie intersection.
- Luck Temple gazebo at Stansvik is an amazing picnic destination!
- Stansvik grill area near the restaurant by the shore.
- Kruunuvuori's enchanting pond is now also partly accessible thanks to new boardwalk routes. The accessible route starts from Kultakruununkaarelta, the more challenging one from Pääntie.
- Also remember great playgrounds: at Kruunuvuorenrannan sports park and on the north side of Haakoninhde Park (next to school construction site and big machines!).
You can go on trips at Easter too! Have you ever been in spring to Lammassaari, Matosaari or the Kivinokka area? Talosaari, Tullisaari, Kivinokka, Seurasaari and Pukkisaari and even Suomenlinna are great trip destinations outside the summer season too. Pack snacks and warm clothes!

Day trips at Easter time

Little Finland - over 1000 reasons to explore Finland with children!

Day trip tips in Helsinki and the surrounding area can be found in Pienten Helsinki's Day Trips series.

At Sipoonkorpi you'll find, for example, the easy-access Tasakallio - Storträsk trail and the Byabäckenin nature trail (formerly known as the Ponu post office trail), which leads to a grill area and a cottage to warm up by. Tip from experience: with small children, the Byabäcken trail should be walked from the beginning to the grill area and return the same way, not going around the loop as the trail partly follows a car road. From the grill area, firewood is usually readily available, so bring matches and snacks.
The route from Kuusijärvi to Sipoonkorpi is worth trying and experiencing a beautiful bridge route to the national park.

New and interesting trip destinations can be found in Uusimaa recreation area organization's sites.

Porvoo and for example the old Porvoo attractions and Moomin playground are nice destinations in Eastern Uusimaa. Easter may affect service opening hours.

In Kotka Sea Center Vellamo features a large Moomin exhibition (the museum center is open only on Saturday and Sunday 4.-5-4-2026). Worth visiting in Kotka are also Katarina Marine Park and Sapoka Water Park.

Lahti and Launee Family Park as well as the large ski jump towers are worth seeing.

Kirkkonummi and Linloon, Meikon and Porkkalas outdoor areas.

In Inkoo's Degerbys nature and grilling are offered at Kopparnäs recreation area.

LUX Helsinki illuminates the city again 4.1.-8.1.2020. Read more on LUX Helsinki's website. This year's route runs from Senate Square to Kaisaniemi Park and from there to Tokoinranta, so the route also passes several playgrounds!
Playgrounds along the LUX Helsinki route include at least the Säätytalo playground, Kaisaniemi Park playground, Tokoinranta playground, and the nearby Linja play park.

Lux Korkeasaari light art event takes over the zoo 25.12.2019-8.1.2020. The zoo is open daily 10am-6pm (4-8.1.2020 from 10am–8pm). Admission fee applies.

Where to go for Midsummer with children?

Midsummer in the archipelago.

The midsummer celebration in Helsinki offers surprisingly much programming, but unfortunately the schedule is challenging for little celebrants at many events. At Seurasaari's midsummer celebrations little ones are considered and children have their own bonfire earlier (entrance fee), Mustasaari is open and offers activities for little ones (ferry fee) and at the beach in Kaivopuisto there is a traditional bonfire at 21:30. Also Stansviken manor park bonfire in Kruunuvuori is lit at 21:30. At Lapinlahden fountain, a relaxed midsummer event is organized for the whole family, with its own program for children too. More information about the fountain's midsummer. At the Allas Midsummer Event you can swim and sauna for free at Market Square, plus Allas dancing and outdoor disco. At least the advertisement promises the event suits the whole family. The bonfire is lit on Allas beach at 19:00.

Many allotment gardens organize open midsummer celebrations. For example at Marjaniemi, Talin, Pakilan and Kumpalan allotment gardens. At Kivinokka a traditional midsummer celebration is held in the vicinity of an extremely child-friendly beach. On the west side of Lauttasaari at HKL’s summer cottage traditional midsummer celebrations and summer dances are held. The summer café Puhvetti is also open. At the southern tip of Lauttasaari at Särkiniemi cottage dwellers the bonfire on the beach rocks lights up at 20:00. Nearby, a new café is open on Midsummer too and a nice playground for children can be found near the café and beach.

On Ascension Day, there are only a handful of activities suitable for children compared to the previous weekend, but the promised summery weather is perfect for independent adventures. Kids' Helsinki has listed Ascension Day events plus a few tips for spending a spring day off, as many museums are closed for Ascension Day.

Water Traffic Day on Helsinki's outer islands Pihlajasaari and Kaunissaari

On Water Traffic Day, programming for all ages is organized on both Pihlajasaari and Kaunissaari. Almost all programs are free. You can also travel to the islands just to explore or to enjoy a ferry ride or the summer weather.

Nature trails, fishing and treats at Kaunissaari café Kaunissaari offers fishing lessons and the island’s café serves archipelago delicacies. Each participant receives a fishing rod and bait in addition to fishing tips. Kaunissaari keeps you busy all Ascension Day, as the island is 2 kilometers long and 800 meters wide with diverse flora and fauna and good fishing waters. The island also has a nature trail where you can learn more about the island’s nature.

Mustikkamaanpolku 12 Location on map Korkeasaari's Easter Island is a family event where you can watch the animals as well as the spring awakening of nature. At Bear Island, you can dip your fingers and seeds into the soil, craft chicks and bunnies, and spin a wheel of fortune for wildlife. In the Amazon, animal face paintings are applied, and in the Boreal region, signs of spring are admired. During animal feeding times, information is provided about species and the happenings of Korkeasaari's animals. Korkeasaari is open during Easter every day from 10-18 (admission until 17). Korkeasaari has good spots for eating your own packed lunches, a grill area, playgrounds, and accessible baby care facilities. More information about the event

Seurasaari Location on map Seurasaari's Easter brings together on Wire Saturday small children dressed as witches and sorceresses. Two bonfires. The Celebration Field kiosk serves during the event and you can also grill your own packed lunches. It's easy to move around the area with strollers. Public transportation (buses 24 and 24S from Erottaja) is recommended due to limited parking. Free admission. More information about the event

The dream was about to come true, because Rabbit became a witch's apprentice. The witch had promised that if the rabbit managed to conjure spring, she would finally become a real witch. Now Rabbit would need help. If she doesn't get spring conjured during Easter, she will never become a witch. The help of children and adults is needed! Theater Cat's Easter adventure at the Theater Museum on Easter Saturday 15.4. and Easter Sunday 16.4. 12-16, last start at 15.30. Admission with an admission ticket, Museum Card also applies!
