There have been many inquiries about the Park Hideaways from summer 2019. Unfortunately, the hideaways did not receive city funding (with the reasoning that "the project will have minimal impact") and Little Helsinki is unable to self-fund the project this summer, so in summer 2019 Park Hideaways will unfortunately not be organized in Helsinki and Espoo.

Thank you to all the park hideaway seekers from last summer, the partners who maintained the hideaways, and especially Lotta Maija who created the visual identity of the hideaways!

Tips and Guides - August

The first incredible summer in the history of park hide-and-seeks officially ended on August 1st, 2018. However, some park hides received an extension and in August you can still search for treasures! Thank you at this point to everyone for the wonderful adventure!

But what exactly is Park Hide-and-Seek? Park Hide-and-Seek is a type of children’s geocaching, a treasure hidden in a designated area in advance. Park Hide-and-Seek differs from geocaching in that you don’t need a phone or coordinates to find it, just sharp eyes: you can only find the hide through verbal clues. In summer 2018, park hides were located in several playgrounds in Helsinki as well as a few other places in central Helsinki. The first clues for Park Hide-and-Seeks were published on Helsinki Day, June 12th, 2018. A total of 29 hides were available to search in summer 2018, but some hides received an extension and the adventure continues in August with the help of 14 hides. Finland's tour first park hide is found in Espoo

Instructions and clues to the hides can be found on their own page as well as on the map.

The global conquest of park hides continues, and Finland’s tour first park hide can now be found in Espoo at Träskända Park, as Children’s Cultural Centre Pikku-Aurora accepted the challenge and hid Espoo’s first park hide in this delightful park.

There are currently 28 park hides in Helsinki and one in Espoo. Little Helsinki challenges Finnish cities and municipalities to create their own park hide for the delight of seekers. Instructions and ready-made materials already exist, so participation is very easy.

Tips and Instructions

The fantastic first summer of park treasures officially ends on August 1st, 2018! Update: Some treasures can still be found in August, see the detailed list below.

However, it is possible that at least some of the park treasures could be searchable in August as well, as many have hoped. This is currently being clarified with the treasure maintainers. Any August park treasures will be updated to the Tips and Instructions page as soon as possible. A feedback and development survey for the treasures will also be opened in the coming days. There may also be a closing event for the treasures at the Night of the Arts (uncertain still).
